Miami University in Ohio and the University of Dayton Counselor Visitation
I toured the beautiful campus of Miami of Ohio, spoke with students and faculty. I learned so much about their history and future plans. They offer all of the good things a big university has—over 100 majors, athletics and the power of resources and opportunities, but the focus is on undergraduates.
This tour also included the University of Dayton, a large private Catholic research university in Dayton, Ohio. They are Marianist Catholic. It has a very nice campus and some very good programs, especially in the sciences. Interesting students and faculty!
They also have an interesting tuition plan*:
They send the family a prospectus that shows them all of the costs –and they do not have extra fees of any kind—and the net cost will not go up over the four years. If tuition goes up, the grant will go up. They want to give the families a number they can count on and budget for. They also give the students $4000 to use for books over the four years.
*This was in place when I toured in 2015.
