I spent two days in Scranton, visiting two very interesting universities.
The University of Scranton, a Jesuit institution with top notch Business programs as well as great programs in the health fields, some with combined undergraduate-graduate degrees! I met with the Connecticut admissions rep and chatted with students—including one young woman who just started this week and shared with me why she choose this university.
Next up, a very full and amazing day on the campus of Marywood University. We heard from the President of the university, met with the head of admissions and were able to hear from and ask questions of a student panel. Then on to comprehensive presentations by the heads of the departments of: Architecture, Nutrition and Dietetics, Visual Arts, and Communication Arts. This university, originally founded to teach the children of the local miners, is a gem! Their philosophy in the Dept. of Architecture is “adaptable re-use” and they put that into action. Their department is housed in the former natatorium.
